A strenuous hike of about 12 miles with about 2,500 foot gain. It will be from the Westridge trailhead, up the use trail, down to Mandeville Canyon, up to Canyonback with lunch at the Nike Missile Overlook. Then back down Westridge to the trailhead. To get to the trailhead: From the San Diego Freeway, exit Sunset and head west 2.5 miles to Mandeville Canyon Road. Turn right and, after .25 mile, turn left on Westridge Road. Take Westridge to the end. Park in the small dirt parking lot at the trailhead, or, if it is full, park on Westridge. Or, from PCH, take Chautauqua Blvd. Continue .9 miles to Sunset Blvd and turn right. Drive 2.8 miles and turn left on Mandeville Canyon Road. Then, after .25 mile, turn left on Westridge Road. Take Westridge to the end. Park in the small dirt parking lot at the trailhead, or, if it is full, park on Westridge. Bring: Bring water, lunch, lugsoles, hat and sun screen.

Additional Directions: In going on a Sierra Club outing you are potentially on a trip with individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated. It is your choice to attend the outing knowing this information. The leader can not and should not reveal the status of participants vaccination or reject a participant based on their vaccination status. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. If someone is experiencing any possible COVID symptoms or is sick, they should not attend the outing. The participant is responsible for contacting the leader to report a positive COVID test. Leaders will provide participants with their contact information. Leader will report as an Incident Report to the Sierra Club.
