LET'S GET ON THE RIVER
Join us for our July 26th outing for a paddling trip on the Illinois River.  We will be paddling 8 miles from Hardin (Illinois Riverdock Restaurant, MELS) access to Hadley Landing public access.   Great way to get out on the river wilderness with a chance to see eagles, blue heron, egrets, vultures, deer and a boundless amount of other wildlife.  We will provide kayaks, life jackets, and paddles.  Please let me know if you are bringing your own boat and/or gear.  I am limited to only 10 kayaks for those that do not have their own.

Meet at Clifton Terrace Park (Intersection of Clifton Terrace Road and Great River Road) parking lot at 8:00.  From there we will convoy to our “take out” at Hadley Landing to leave a few cars, this is a 45-minute drive.  We will need some to be prepared to carpool with others from our “take out” to our “put in” in Hardin IL.  From our “take out” at Hadley Landing we will convoy to the “put in” in Hardin, I will be towing the kayak trailer.

You must pre-reserve a spot on this outing to participate as we are limited on kayaks and safety personnel.   PRE-REGISTER ON THIS PAGE.  You are welcome to bring your own boat if you have one but let us know what type you have.  Kids are welcome but must paddle in a tandem with an adult.  PLEASE let us know if you need a tandem kayak.  Paddlers should bring water, a snack, sunscreen, bug spray, a hat, and a great attitude.  Wearing a life jacket while on the water is required and we have several of them, feel free to bring your own for a better fit.
It will take us approximately 3 hours to paddle this distance.  All are welcome to have lunch with us at Mel’s in Hardin after our paddling is complete.  Contact Craig Heaton for questions at 618-345-4822 or cheatoc@gmail.com
