What is the "Double Cross Trail"? By now, most folks have heard of the "Crosstown Trail," a 17-mile route that traverses SF in a diagonal from Candlestick in the Southeast to Land's End in the Northwest. Well, that idea inspired a group of friends to create a similar route crossing SF on the opposite diagonal. Their 14-mile route, which they've humorously named "The Double Cross Trail," goes from Fort Funston in the Southwest to the Embarcadero in the Northeast. It follows a piece of the "Bay Area Ridge Trail" and intersects with the "Crosstown Trail" on Twin Peaks Blvd. Their vision was to incorporate nature, architectural gems, lofty views, lunch options, transit access, and bathrooms. I think they did an amazing job.
