The U.S. Senate is due to vote on Trump's disastrous Budget Bill any day now. We need to ensure Idaho's Senators (critical votes on this issue) walk their talk and successfully get public land sales
completely removed from the bill.
On Thursday from 5-7pm local time, grab your sign and join fellow Idahoans outside of Senator Crapo's offices across Idaho to remind the Senator, the press, and the whole community: Our public lands are NOT for sale!More information:Senator Crapo is the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee - arguably the most powerful person in the nation when it comes to whether/how public land sales are included in the Budget Bill.
Senator Crapo's office has said that "he does not support transferring public lands to private ownership" (and Senator Risch's office has said something similar) - but talk is cheap, and we can't take it for granted that they will actually get the language removed or vote the way we need them to when it comes down to it.
We need to keep voicing our opposition to public land sales LOUDLY & CLEARLY so they have no way to pretend to ignore us or make spineless compromises to move the bill forward.
Any public land sales open the door to
more public land sales, and circumvent already existing public processes to sell public land when the public deems it necessary and useful. A wholesale liquidation of our public lands to private developers to pad the pockets of millionaires is
not okay, no matter how small the parcels, where they're located, or what they're used for.
Let's help show Senator Crapo that he has the support of Idahoans across the state to follow-through with his statement and fully remove this language from the Budget Bill. We need and expect nothing less.
Note: We recognize that there are other events to support public lands being hosted by other organizations at this same time. We encourage you to pick the one that works best for you! We need all hands on deck and appreciate the work that all groups are doing during this critical time!
