Our Washington chapter's Public Lands team has engaged in many fights to safeguard forests, trails, and wildlife habitats across the state. To wrap up National Parks and Rec Month and preview State Lands September, we'll be summitting Oyster Dome in Blanchard State Park. This popular trail near Bellingham, WA is one of the many projects from the Trust Land Transfer program and a testament to the hard work of environmental advocates.

This trail is 6.3 miles on an out & back trail. Total elevation gain is 1,896 feet over a rocky incline and at the top, Oyster Dome provides a panoramic view of the Samish Bay. Because of the popularity of this trail, we're going to start early - a prompt 8 am departure from the Oyster Dome trailhead; be aware, parking is limited so get there early! Please prepare for a warm summer day hike by bringing lots of water, sun protection, and bug spray.

This is considered a "Hard" trail on AllTrails. Participants should be confident in their hiking fitness and/or their ability to self navigate if they need to drop-off and return to the trailhead.

Level: Strenuous(6.3 miles, 1,896 ft)

Bring: Comfortable shoes, water, sun protection, a packed lunch/trail snacks
