Description:
Enjoy a fall evening with a hike on the Winchell Trail that traces the edge of the Mississippi River gorge. From the trail, we look out across the river to the opposite slope which hopefully will be illuminated by late evening light. Eagles and other birds and wildlife might be seen from this trail just steps away from a busy urban neighborhood. We will also explore new growth in a restored oak savanna. Most of the walking will be on paved trails, but some will be packed dirt with steep sections with loose gravel and rocks. Total distance is about 2 miles.

Hike rating: Moderate - mostly flat, unpaved, rough uneven ground or stairs. (could be roots and rocks)

Any specific gear or food/water needs: No special gear needed, but a camera and binoculars would be useful.

Level: Moderate ()
