Miami-Dade County wants to build a new incinerator that will:
- produce 4,000+ tons of C02 /day
- be the largest source of mercury pollution in the county
- release toxic ash into the air we breathe
- lock us into a “put-or-pay” contract, a commitment to supply enough waste to feed the new incinerator or face financial penalties.
The County will be voting on July 16th to decide whether or not to site a harmful waste incinerator in the county, but incineration is NOT the solution. A zero waste approach is the economical, sustainable, and fastest answer to our waste crisis.
