I: Hike to San Gorgonio Mountain (11,499') and Dobbs Peak (10,459')

I: Hike to San Gorgonio Mountain (11,499') and Dobbs Peak (10,459') -- Join us for a unique hike to the summit of San Gorgonio Mountain, which is the highest peak in California south of the Sierra Nevada. Our route to San Gorgonio will begin with an off-trail hike to Dobbs Peak after a mile or so on the Vivian Creek Trail. Then we'll leave Dobbs and continue off-trail to the San Bernardino Divide Trail, which we'll take to the summit of San Gorgonio Mountain. We will return the way we came. This hike is very strenuous and only for well-conditioned hikers. Total distance will be around 15 miles, and total elevation gain will be about 5,500 feet. Permit limits group size. Bring food, beverage (4-5 liters), hiking footwear, layers, headlamp, hat and sunblock. Hiking poles can be a plus. This is a back country hike, and a completed paper Local Outings Medical Form will be reviewed by the Primary Leader at the trailhead prior to the hike. Contact Primary Leader for status and details. Primary Leader: BILL SIMPSON, Co-Leaders: LIDIA BARBOSA, SHARON MOORE, KIYOSHI KODAMA, YOKO ISHIGURO
