Hi folks!

This is a great local hike that’s both beautiful and a solid workout! We’ll pass granite outcroppings, enjoy views of the surrounding countryside, and get a glimpse of Lake Allatoona.

You can check the hiking map link below — we’ll be doing about 9 miles with 1,600 feet of elevation gain, as we cross over Pine Mountain a few times. We’ll also explore an unmarked trail that begins near the summit and leads down to the river. That section gets a bit steep on the downhill, so be prepared.

We’re meeting at the West Trailhead parking lot, directly off the I-75 exit — not the East Trailhead.  I am happy to bring three people in my car from the Kennesaw Busbee Park n' Ride, just let me know if you want to ride from there.  Otherwise it is about a 30 minute drive from Atlanta.

Plan to bring a lunch — we’ll stop and eat at the Corps of Engineers Allatoona Dam Overlook, which is a really beautiful spot.

Signup Restrictions: This hike is strenuous and we will maintain a fairly brisk pace. Please ensure that you are physically capable of an activity like this across rocky mountain trail terrain. You can bring a dog if they are able to keep up for this hike. The dog must be on a leash at all times.
