Burn off those holiday calories with a refreshing 5.2-mile hike at Highland Recreation Area on New Years Day! This rolling loop trail will take you through hardwood forests, wetlands, lakeshores, open meadows, and the historic remains of Edsel Ford’s Haven Hill Estate, built in the 1920s. Although the main lodge burned down, participants can still view the gatehouse and other remaining structures at the park's entrance. During the hike, we’ll also pass by the carriage house and the main lodge ruins, offering a glimpse into the estate's past.
Meeting Time and Location:
We’ll meet at 8:45am at the Parking Lot at Haven Road and Moraine Road, Highland, MI. (Link) The hike will start promptly at 9:00am, so please don't be late.
