Join us on the day after Thanksgiving for a two-night camping trip to Joshua Tree National Park (JTNP) at Cottonwood Campground, located in the lower portion of the park in the Colorado Desert.
During our time at JTNP over the holiday weekend, we will enjoy meals, campfire, and stargazing together (JTNP is a dark-sky area, with the Milky Way visible). Hikes and tours will span both the low-desert (Colorado) and high-desert (Mojave) portions of the park, including the Lost Palms Oasis (the largest collection of fan palms in JTNP, with low-desert flora along the way), the iconic Skull Rock and Jumbo Rocks, Keys Ranch, Barker Dam, and Keys View.
Campers may tent-camp or sleep in their cars. We have reserved three campsites and will have a common kitchen and seating area for meals and campfire.
MEET: at Cottonwood Campground.
DIRECTIONS: from the Inland Empire -- drive eastbound on Interstate 10 past Palm Springs and Indio to Exit 168 (Cottonwood Springs Road). Drive northbound on Cottonwood Springs Road into Joshua Tree National Park to Cottonwood Campground.
BRING: money or pass for national park entry fee, tent, sleeping bag, food for three days, stove, headlamp or lantern, layered clothing, jacket, hiking boots, daypack, 10 essentials.
We will meet via Zoom prior to the camping trip to further discuss our plans.
