Bike the Old Abe State Trail
Sunday, April 26, 2026, 1:30 p.m.
Old Abe State Trail, Trailhead: 13836 County Highway S, Jim Falls WI
Enjoy an easy ride on a paved surface from Jim Falls to Brunet Island and back. The abandoned railroad trail follows the Chippewa River closely in some sections and offers scenic views of trees, fields, and ponds.
We’ll pass by the new Cobban bridge on the way to Brunet Island at about the 5-mile mark. Round-trip, the full distance is about 30 miles and takes an average of 3.5 hours to complete.
Bring a snack because we will be stopping at Brunet Island State Park to eat before heading back to Jim Falls.
A State Trail Pass is required. Daily passes are available for $5 and can be purchased at Jim Falls Cenex Convenience Store, 19786 139th Ave, Jim Falls, WI.
Meet at the trailhead in Jim Falls, 13836 County Hwy S.
Participants who wish to carpool can meet at the north side of the Lake Hallie Walmart parking lot, subject to bike-hauling arrangements.
