The Chapter Outings A-Team, Kern-Kaweah Chapter and Tehipite Chapter invite you to an Outings Leader Training where facilitators will cover a range of topics from creating welcoming spaces outdoors to meeting the emergent needs of your outings participants to planning and managing outings related risks. Overall this training prepares individuals to lead outings with the Sierra Club and share their love for the outdoors with their community and friends. The first day of the training will focus on the Outings Leader Training and the second day will cover Adult First Aid and CPR/AED. You are welcome to attend both days of the training or just one. The first day will dive deep into:
- Best Practices in Planning & Conducting Outings
- Building Community Outdoors
- Ethical Leadership & Risk Management Strategies
- Sierra Club Chapter Outings Leader Requirements
- Sierra Club’s Mission, History & Structure
What to Expect
- Build community with other training participants.
- While training will run from 10am to 5pm each day, regular breaks will be part of the daily schedule.
- Please money to purchase lunch nearby or bring your own lunch. There will also be a 45 minute lunch break each day.
- Training participants should come prepared to engage with the training content and each other.
- There will be a combination of lecture, experiential learning and group work.
Bring: Please bring a pen/pencil, journal/notebook, money to purchase lunch nearby or a pre-packed lunch, water and beverages, snacks and a small item of significance that represents you. For example, you can bring your special book, stone, ring, watch, photograph, etc.
