Estimated length of time and distance: 10 miles, 6 hours
Time and Place: All participants meet at 3 Bridges Raft Rental, at 2370 Sappington Bridge Rd, Bourbon, MO 65441 at 8:30 AM. Coordinates: 38.1612135, -91.122533 . If some participants are bringing their own vessel, we’ll set up our own shuttle.
We’ll float an easy 10-mile section of the Meramec River from Campbell Bridge to Sappington Bridge. This float is suitable for all experience levels and families are welcome.
Everyone will meet at 8:30 AM at the Concessionaire (3 Bridges Raft Rental) near the Sappington Bridge to check in and review the day's plan. Participants are welcome to bring their own canoe/kayak or to rent from the concessionaire. The rental option is for a single kayak (sit-on or sit-in) for $60, and I have reserved 10 kayaks.
Matt is fronting the cost of the rentals so you'll reimburse him. Cancellations must be made 7 days prior to the event to get a refund. If the rental price is a hardship, please let Matt know and we’ll work something out.
The group will meet at the concessionaire. Any participants with their own vessel will drive to the Campbell Bridge Put-In (7973 Missouri N, Bourbon, MO 65441); any participants renting will be shuttled there in a bus by the concessionaire. The group will reconvene at the put-in at approximately 9:30 AM and start the float together.
Group size is limited to 10 canoes/kayaks.
Difficulty: Moderate.
All participants must:
1. Sign a Sierra Club Liability waiver.
2. Provide the Outings Leader with a copy of their completed
Medical Form. The leader will collect all medical forms, carry them with him, and return them at the end of the outing.
Guns are prohibited on Sierra Club Hikes.
Advice for appropriate water, food, and gear: All participants should bring their own water, snacks, and lunch. Clothes should be suitable for getting wet. Wear shoes that can get wet. A hat and strap for glasses are recommended. Bring sunscreen and bug spray, as well. Personal Flotation Devices are required to be worn while on the river. A dry set of clothes that you leave in your vehicle is recommended.
Restroom facilities are available at the concessionaire.
If you ARE coming, please RSVP on the EMG website. If you have questions, ask Matt.
