This large protected piedmont granite outcropping located in Columbia County, Georgia is the home of several rare and endangered plants found no where else. It was named a National Natural Landmark in 1980 and was purchased by the Georgia Nature Conservancy in 1983. Rising 70 feet above the surrounding area, the rock is a geological wonder. We will explore the geology of the area with Geologist Walt Kubilius and view unique plants with Cathy Black. Because of the limited parking we will meet at 9am at Patriots Park and carpool from there promptly at 9:15.
