Outdoor Leadership Training

The Sierra Club in Oregon needs new trip leaders to create an outings program offering trips to the rivers, beaches, mountains, and hiking areas of the state. This required workshop is part of the certification process for Sierra Club outings leaders. This event is suited for beginning leaders as well as those with years of experience. The one day workshop leads to certification that lasts for four years and then must be repeated. The workshop examines strategies to work effectively and safely with participants, emergency response, logistic considerations, and introduces policies applicable to outings leaders. Membership and first aid certification is not required for the workshop - both are required to lead trips along with participation in a provisional trip overseen by an established Club outings leader.
