Kayak Big Pottsburg Creek
Kayak along Old Pottsburg Creek, a tributary on Beaches Blvd that leads to the St John River. It is known for wildlife and sometimes manatees. A local water sports shop is next door for any brand new beginner who needs to rent a kayak. Call a week ahead if you need to reserve. We will paddle for a bit more than one hour then return to the put in. This location has convenient access off of I 95 at a city boat launch and parking area. There is no restroom at the launch.

Kayak Big Pottsburg Creek
Friday, October 17th, 2025
10am - 1pm
8505 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville
This will be an easy paddle along a remote creek in an urban setting off of Beach Blvd. Big Pottsburg Creek, due to being close to a heavily populated and industrialized area, has been polluted - like many creeks in Jacksonville. But it is still home to scores of animals and is beautiful. As you pull into the quiet and remote areas it will feel like another world away from the traffic and noise. This outing is limited to ten people in addition to the leader because of the limited parking at the boat ramp.
Level: Easy
Cost: free
Signup Instructions: Signup online to hasten the launching process or it can be done at the launch site.
Bring: Kayak, PFD (Life Jacket type 3 or 5), water and whistle. ALL of these items are required to launch your boat and PFD's will be worn while paddling. You may also want to bring sunscreen and bug spray.
Additional Directions: Always check the Meetup site before traveling to the event in case of a last minute cancellation.
Cancellation Policy: Activity is held rain or shine, but may be altered due to inclement weather
