Join us to give public comment at the Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s December Stationary Source Committee meeting!

The Air District’s groundbreaking zero-emission appliance rules (Rules 9-4 and 9-6) are under review — and we need your voice to protect clean air and public health.

These rules are a vital step toward eliminating harmful pollution from gas-powered furnaces and water heaters — one of the largest sources of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in the Bay Area, even more than all the region's cars combined. Pollution from these appliances causes up to 85 premature deaths and 15,000 asthma attacks each year, and costs the region nearly $900 million annually in health impacts.

While some flexibility is needed to support residents, especially in low-income communities, we must not allow industry pressure to weaken these life-saving rules or create broad loopholes that undermine their benefits.
