WAITLIST: LGBTQ+ Fall Nature Walk & Painting Class

Our OUTdoors Idaho LGBTQ+ Outings program is hosting a fall walk & art event. Local queer folks will have the chance to meetup with us and stroll through the beautiful fall foliage along the Greenbelt and get inspired by the beauty of nature. Then, we'd love to gather indoors afterward to sip on a warm cozy drink while local artist Lindsay Battershell leads a guided painting class.

Description:

Please join the Idaho Sierra Club and Queerly Collected for an LGBTQ-only Fall Nature Walk, followed by a guided paint-and-sip led by local artist Lindsay Battershell!

We'll kick off the event walking through some fall foliage along the Boise Greenbelt and getting inspired by the beauty of nature. Then, we'll move to an indoor community space to sip on warm cozy drinks while local artist Lindsay Battershell leads a guided painting class.

There will be plenty of painting supplies provided, and participants are welcome to bring whatever other medium(s) they want to use. This is a great opportunity for Boise-area LGBTQ+ folks to spend time outdoors, relax and express yourself through art, AND build community with other queer folks.

Who is this Outing for?
OUTdoors Idaho outings are explicitly queer-only spaces, and we ask that folks who attend these outings identify with the LGBTQIA+ community (including questioning folks, closeted folks, asexual folks, etc. etc.!). We have created this as a queer-only space with the intention of creating a shared identity group in Idaho’s outdoors, where folks who don’t feel safe/comfortable in other social/hiking groups can join, feel connected, and build queer community in a non-heteronormative, non-cisnormative place. We ask that allies do NOT attend this outing to honor the queer-only space, so participants who want a queer-only space can feel more confident that they’re safe being themselves. However, we also host regular outings for BOTH allies and the queer community.

More about difficulty, skill level, and safety
The walk from the parking lot to the river is short and takes approximately 5 minutes. It is a fully paved trail along the Boise Greenbelt. We will walk for about 1 hour and expect to cover a distance of approximately 2 miles, with an elevation gain of around 20 ft. Our trip leaders will carry a full first aid kit along with extra water.

Please reach out if you have any questions about the difficulty level, accessibility of the event, or what to expect!

Directions
We will provide exact location details after you register.
