Join Angeles Chapter Travel Adventures for this 15-day, 15-night adventure in Eastern Indonesia and experience the culture, architecture, archeology, nature, wildlife, beautiful beaches and incredible geologic wonders of this exotic land whose people are best known for their friendliness and hospitality.  This in-depth tour will progress across three islands: Java, Bali, and Flores as we travel east across the region, and will cover a wide range of activities as we go.  We’ll visit five UNESCO World Heritage Sites (UNESCO WHSs), ancient temples and palaces, traditional villages in Java and Bali to meet the people and learn a little about their way of life, we’ll hike to the highest waterfall in Java, we’ll watch the sun rise over an ancient temple in Central Java and from the top of a sacred volcano in East Java, we’ll watch the sun set over a stunning Balinese sea temple and see it’s fading rays turn the ancient stone of a Javanese ruin to glowing amber.  We’ll visit beautiful beaches, and swim in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, we’ll hike on islands off Flores where the views are sublime and where we can spot Komodo Dragons in action.

Our trip begins with a welcome dinner in Jakarta (2 nights), then we’ll travel to Yogyakarta (aka Yogya) the next day (3 nights) via train. Here we’ll visit three UNESCO WHSs: The Cosmological Axis of Yogyakarta (The Kraton, Taman Sari, etc.), Borobudur Temple, and Prambanan Temple.  We’ll visit the Village of Candirejo, watch the sun set over the ruins at Ratu Beko, and we’ll stroll and shop along the vibrant Jalan Malioboro.  From Yogya we’ll take a train ride through Java’s fertile volcanic region where we’ll be treated to amazing views of the island’s natural beauty on our way to Mojokerto Town.  Once there we’ll visit Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park and hike to Madakaripura Waterfall and then continue to our hotel in Bromo (1 night).  An Optional Tour is available for a short trek across the Sea of Sands and a climb up 245 steps in time to reach Mt Bromo’s crater rim to watch the sunrise.  From there we’ll drive to Surabaya and fly to Bali (4 nights).  We’ll visit two components of Bali’s UNESCO WHS: Pura Ulun Danu, and the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces.  Also, several “must see” temples, the Sacred Monkey Forest, a beautiful beach, and we’ll spend some time in Ubud sightseeing and shopping.  Two Optional Tours are available in Bali: either a Sunrise hike to the summit of the sacred Mt Batur, or a sunrise jeep tour along the flank of Mt Batur to explore evidence of its most recent eruption in 2000.  From Bali we’ll take a short flight to Labuan Bajo on Flores Island (2 nights).  We’ll take a cruise to Komodo Island National Park (UNESCO WHS) where we’ll hike to see the dragons, cruise to Padar and Komodo Islands Island for spectacular views and short hikes, we’ll swim at the Pink Sand Beach on Padar, cruise to Taka Makassar for swimming in turquoise waters, and cruise to Manta Point to see the manta rays.  From Flores we’ll fly back to Bali (3 nights).  We’ll visit the Taman Ayun Temple, another component of Bali’s UNESCO WHS, watch the sun set over Pura Tanah Lot, and enjoy a performance of the Kecak Fire Dance.  We’ll spend the final day of our trip sightseeing and shopping in Bali, and we’ll wrap things up that night with a farewell dinner.

Cost per person includes domestic airfare (3 flights), land transportation, hotels/lodges for 14 nights (sharing a twin room).  Also included are 15 of 15 Breakfasts, 14 of 15 Dinners, and one lunch.  Park and admission fees, hikes and walks, boat cruise from/to Labuan Bajo, airport transfers, and guides.  The Optional Tours are available at an additional price.  International Airfare and tips are not included.  We are staying mostly at 3* and 4* accommodations, most of which have swimming pools.  We are staying at most locations for two or more nights, giving us time to relax and enjoy each location’s accommodations, their services, and the neighborhood scenery.  We expect this popular trip to fill up quickly. SIGN UP EARLY.  SPACE IS LIMITED.

Price: Early sign-up discount for SC Members until December 31, 2025 is $3,900 Per Person ($3,600 for the package + $300 domestic flights, based on shared twin rooms).  Single Supplement is $935.  Price after January 1, 2026 (depending on availability), is $4,100 Per Person with a Single Supplement of $1,035.
