O: Cuyamaca Rancho State Park Campout

Camp for three restorative nights (Thursday to Sunday) at Paso Picacho group tent campsite set in an oak woodland forest at 5,000' with drinking water, flush toilets, pay showers, picnic tables and shade ramada.California Professional Geologist, Jay Schneider will describe the processes that made this area so incredible. Environmental Awareness credit can be earned on this activity.Day hikes include summiting Stonewall Peak (4 miles and 800 gain) for breathtaking views and Azalea Glen Loop (6 miles and 700 gain) a meander through the regenerating forest. Other hikes may include a saunter and picnic at Stonewall Mine, an introductory walk along the Nature Trail and a short hike to a waterfall. The town of Julian (famous for apple pie) is less than half an hour drive from the campsite. Even closer is Lake Cuyamaca where boating, fishing and a pub are available.A visit to the California Wolf Center is an option (additional cost) which can be arranged by each camper.Send $105 per person with Sierra Club #, $120 non members (Check payable Sierra Club) to:Reservationist: Donna Specht, 22221 Wood Island Lane, Huntington Beach, CA 92646.Due to limited parking, preference to carpoolers.
