Retired/active Military Veteran Hike: Explore Flatwoods Conservation Area

Trout Creek Conservation Area

Explore the wooded forest! Discover what is there. We might see live animals and definitely plenty of plants. Learn about the importance of this land to Tampa. This is a three to four-mile walk on various surfaces. We will walk over the Hillsborough River across a flood control gate and over the flood control levee twice. We can expect to see a spring within Trout Creek and then find old concrete foundations of former homes. We will saunter some off trail exploring. There is plenty to see.

Level: Easy to moderate.

No dogs

2 liters of water, closed toe shoes. Long pants if not using repellent.

Optional: snacks, hat, hiking poles, and sunscreen, mosquito repellent, rain gear and any personal items you need.

Please be there 15 minutes early. After the Trail head talk, we will start walking approximately 7:30 am.

Cost: $2 parking charged by county if meter is working.

Signup Restrictions: Over 18 age have closed shoes and at least one liter of water.No dogs.

Additional Directions: We will gather at the restrooms at the Trout Creek parking lot.
