The Hoosier Hikers Council: Building Trails Across Indiana
Have you ever wondered where hiking trails come from? Since 1995, the passionate volunteers of the Hoosier Hikers Council have built miles and miles of natural-surface trails across Indiana. Hear tales of digging in the dirt and learn how your life can change because you carried a tire. See highlights from successful projects on public lands and partnerships with organizations like The Nature Conservancy and Sycamore Land Trust. Ill cover principles of sustainable trail design, explain how to get involved in community work days, and show how trails can be tools for both environmental stewardship and outdoor access. Youll leave with a new appreciation for the careful planning and hard work that creates and maintains the trails you love and enjoy--and hopefully some ideas for your next hiking destination!
