Get the New Year off to a good start with a hike through the winter woods! The Prince George's Sierra Club invites you to come along on a guided walk at the Jug Bay Natural Area of Patuxent River Park in Croom, MD. We'll walk about 4.5 miles and be out 3 to 4 hours. We'll see what green things grow through the winter and look for wintering waterfowl on the Patuxent. This terrain is fairly flat with some gentle inclines and some steps. It is mostly natural-surface with some boardwalk along the marsh. The trail through upland forest provides views of the river. You never know which birds will show up. There may be roots and branches to step over and some muddy or icy patches. This excursion is best for folks 7-years-old and older who can walk 5 miles over uneven terrain. Minors must be accompanied by parent/legal guardian. Pets must be able to behave in a group of strangers and stay on the trail and on leash at all times. Owners must clean up after pets. Park facilities including restrooms are not open on January 1.
Level: Moderate
Cost: None
Signup Instructions: Each participant should register individually and sign the participation agreement. Parent/legal guardian must sign waiver for minors.
