Join an event co-organized between the Sierra Club San Francisco Group Green SF Now Campaign and SF PROPEL for an evening exploring how we can bring more green spaces, native habitats, and sustainable infrastructure to the Northern Mission neighborhood—while ensuring these improvements benefit the people who already live and work here.
Urban greening projects can transform neighborhoods, but without intentional planning, they can also drive up rents and displace longtime residents. Our panel will bring together community organizers, environmental advocates, and local voices to discuss how we can pursue a greener Mission that centers equity, supports renters and working families, and strengthens the existing community rather than pushing it out.
Schedule:
- 4:00–5:00 PM: Happy hour and networking
- 5:00–6:00 PM: Panel discussion
- 6:00–7:00 PM: Networking continues
Panel Members:
- Moderator – Sunny Angulo, SF PROPEL Exec Dir and former legislative aide
- Panelist – Sara Moncada, Director of Native Ecology, M.A., Association of Ramaytush Ohlone
- Panelist – Stephen Torres, Mission District Urban Sustainability Activist
- Panelist – Sarah Minick, Urban Watershed Planning Manager, SF Public Utilies Commission
- Panelist – Alondra Aragon, PODER Urban Campesinxs Director
Light refreshments and wine will be provided. Studio Aurora is a community space in the heart of the Mission—feel free to stick around after 7 PM as the venue transitions to its evening programming.
We believe a greener neighborhood and a more just neighborhood can be the same thing. Come be part of the conversation!
