How to Identify and Report Water Pollution

This presentation will describe and illustrate a variety of different types of water pollution, including sediment, nutrient, stormwater pollution. Lee will describe how these pollutants harm water quality and aquatic life. Stormwater permitting of industrial and construction sites will be discussed, as well as methods to prevent pollution and stormwater treatment systems. She will discuss how to document and report pollution.

Twin Harbors Waterkeeper

 

Lee is the Twin Harbors Waterkeeper, a member of the international Waterkeeper Alliance. There are over 300 Waterkeepers around the world, in 47 countries, protecting and advocating for 6.2 million square miles of waterways. The mission of Twin Harbors Waterkeeper is to protect and improve water quality and marine and freshwater habitats on the Washington Coast, including the Chehalis and Willapa Bay watersheds and estuaries, as well as the watersheds on the west side of the Olympics.

 

Lee has worked in the Waterkeeper movement since 2017. She is a professional wetland scientist, and has worked for the Lummi Indian Nation, and several cities and counties in Washington State. In addition to working as a Waterkeeper in SW WA, she has worked in North Puget Sound and in the Spokane River watershed.
