WOTUS 101: Public Commenting Workshop 3
Friends of the Fox River & Sierra Club Illinois Chapter Clean Water Team are hosting a timely and accessible workshop to help Illinoisans understand and engage in the current Waters of the United States (WOTUS) public commenting process. As changes to WOTUS directly affect how we protect rivers, wetlands, and drinking water sources across the state, public participation is essential and your voice matters.

Open to everyone! Start the year by learning what the proposed WOTUS changes mean for Illinois rivers, wetlands, and drinking water. We’ll explain why public comments matter and give you the tools to make your voice heard. Participants will leave with plain-language guidance and ready-to-use resources to submit their own public comment.
Whether you’re a community member looking to learn the basics or a Water Sentinel leader preparing to mobilize your network, these sessions will equip you with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to take meaningful action. Through clear explanations, practical resources, and a focus on the grassroots empowerment, the Clean Water Team is committed to ensuring Illinois residents and leaders can effectively advocate for strong, science-based water protections.
Important: Public comments are due January 5th, 2026—take action early to protect clean water for all!
