Whale - Hump Day Saunter to Dana PointJoin us as we hike around Dana Point, with plenty of fantastic ocean views and perhaps even a sighting of a whale or dolphin or two. We will start at the Strand parking lot in Dana Point, head up to the preserve at the headlands, down "Rue Des Palmiers", then down to the beach for a few steps on the sand, and return prior to lunch, for a total of 5 miles and 500' gain. Plenty of stairsteps, some sidewalks and a few uneven surfaces. Many restrooms along the way. An epic outing for all. Meet at 9:00 AM at the Strand parking lot in Dana Point (on Selva, near PCH). From the 5-freeway southbound, take Camino Capistrano exit. At the light, turn left toward the beach. Turn right on Stonehill, then left on Selva. Take Selva past PCH; the parking lot will be on your right. Bring water, snacks, comfortable walking/hiking boots or shoes, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, binoculars (optional), windbreaker and a pack to put it all in. Registration encouraged. Rain cancels.
