O: Deer Canyon Loop

Starting from the Pacific Ridge Trailhead we follow a wide, flat trail with views of the mountains and ocean. Then the trail drops down into Deer Canyon within Crystal Cove State Park. As the path narrows you may see red-tailed hawks soaring above coastal scrub oaks and wildflowers. There are some picnic benches under shade trees at the half-way point where we can rest before climbing back to the trailhead. Total distance is about 4 miles with about 530 feet of elevation gain and loss. Park trails can be closed for several days after it rains, please register so we can send you cancellation information if needed.

Coastal Peak park, 20403 East Coastal Peak, Newport Beach Trailhead is adjacent to the park at the end of Ridge Park Road. There is ample free parking.
