Turtle Ridge Loop

Moderate ca 6 mi, 1045 gain/loss. Meet 9:00 am in the main parking lot at the Turtle Rock Community Park, 1 Sunnyhill, Irvine. We will proceed the short distance to the Bommer Canyon Trailhead and head up the canyon, passing the old ranch structures, then begin the real climb to Turtle Ridge. Once up, we can pause for a snack and the splendid views. Theres often an ocean breeze up here, and the views continue as we follow the ridge before descending to a path adjacent to the Toll Rd. This quickly leads us to a scenic suburban path through a residential area before we pop out on Shady Canyon Dr to return to our starting point. Bring water, hiking shoes, snack, sunscreen & hat. Poles optional. Directions: From the 405, exit at University Dr (going west, towards the coast), turn L on Ridgeline, L on Turtle Rock, L on Sunnyhill, R into parking lot of Turtle Rock Community Park. Restrooms in park and at trailhead. Ldrs: Ed and Helen Maurer 949-357-9931.
