Snow covered pine forest


Please join the Tahoe Area Group and the Great Basin Institute for a Climate Guided Hike of the Galena Bitterbrush and Nature Trail loop. This tour, led by climate educator Olivia Zimmerman, covers a 1.3 mile easy to moderate trail. Along the way, we'll be talking about climate change and the issues facing the Sierra Nevadas and Tahoe region.

There will be snow on the ground, but trails is packed down. Snowshoes are not provided. Feel free to bring personal equipment (snow shoes, crampons, yak trax, etc.) 

This is a free program on January 24, 2026 from 10 to 11 am. Please meet at the Galena Creek Visitor Center at 18250 Mt Rose Hwy, Reno, NV 89511

Bring water, snacks and dress in layers for variable winter conditions including gloves and a hat!
