Tribe Ujima is a community-rooted collective committed to collective work and responsibility through land stewardship, environmental justice, food sovereignty, and community resilience. Grounded in shared leadership and cooperative effort, Tribe Ujima works to restore relationships between people, land, and community by centering grassroots solutions, intergenerational engagement, and collective accountability. The organization empowers communities to steward their own resources, enhance safety and preparedness, and establish sustainable systems grounded in care, education, and self-determination.
Tribe Ujima offers a wide array of programs and services that address community needs, build resilience, and foster shared growth. Come hear about their efforts in LaGrange, and their community programs, including their community garden, in a presentation by two of the Tribe members. See the presenters bios below.

Speaker Bios
Ife Adebowale, Secretary, Tribe Ujima
Ife Adebowale is a community organizer, educator, and advocate rooted in collective care, environmental justice, and maternal and family wellness. She serves as Secretary of Tribe Ujima and is the founder of Cherishing Life Beginnings Divine Mother Institute, a hospital and homebirth-centered doula agency and training center specializing in holistic birth support, full-spectrum doula services, childbirth education, and traditional midwifery-aligned care. Through her work, Ife bridges community and land stewardship, food access, and maternal health, emphasizing collective responsibility as a foundation for thriving families and sustainable communities.
Ryza Alkebulan, Minister of Defense, Tribe Ujima
Ryza Alkebulan serves as the Minister of Defense for Tribe Ujima, focusing on community safety, preparedness, physical wellness, and self-determination. His work centers on strengthening families and communities through education, discipline, and practical skill-building that support resilience and protection. Ryza leads programs emphasizing readiness, self-defense, and collective responsibility as essential components of long-term community sustainability.
