Humphreys Basin Mule Pack

Experience a truly beautiful area without carrying a backpack! Monday morning, packers will carry 50 lbs. of gear per person to our base camp while we hike separately with our daypacks. We will camp in comfort and enjoy fresh gourmet food and drink since the mules will do the heavy lifting.Starting from Bishop Pack Outfitters (North Lake trailhead at 9,345), we will hike 9 miles with 2,078 of gain (over Paiute Pass at 11,423) to our base camp along the outlet stream from Lower Golden Trout Lake in Humphreys Basin. Our base camp offers a range of options for individual tent sites and a large common area for gathering. The nearby creek provides a convenient water source and soothing sounds as it starts its cascade into adjacent Piute Canyon. This area has 20 plus alpine lakes to explore and many majestic peaks and colorful wildflowers. We will have four layover days to hike, photo, fish or relax in camp.

Experience a truly beautiful area without carrying a backpack! Monday morning, packers will carry 50 lbs. of gear per person to our base camp while we hike separately with our day packs. We will camp in comfort and enjoy fresh gourmet food and drink since the mules will do the heavy lifting.

Starting from Bishop Pack Outfitters (North Lake trailhead at 9,345’), we will hike 9 miles with 2,078’ of gain (over Paiute Pass at 11,423’) to our base camp along the outlet stream from Lower Golden Trout Lake in Humphreys Basin. Our base camp offers a range of options for individual tent sites and a large common area for gathering. The nearby creek provides a convenient water source and soothing sounds as it starts its cascade into adjacent Piute Canyon. Possible day hiking destinations include: Packsaddle, Upper and Lower Desolation, Mesa, Square, Tomahawk, Muriel, Goethe and Wahoo Lakes.

Each evening, we will have group happy hours and dinners including salad, soup and quesadilla nights. We will provide the wine. Participants are responsible for their breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. The group kitchen will provide stoves for water for tea and coffee in the morning. Participants will help cook, clean up, filter water, and contribute ingredients via a coordinated sign up link. We will provide gravity water filtration for the whole group.
