O: Tue Moderate Hikers/Malibu Creek State Park Loop via Talepop T...
This is a moderately difficult hike of approximately 8 miles and about 1300 ft elevation gain. We will climb up and down the Talepop Trail, up and down the Phantom Trail, cross the Cistern trail to the Lookout Trail, breeze by Century Lake, lunch/brunch at the Visitors Center and then back to our cars via the Grassland trail. This will take us through several different eco systems as well as give us some nice wildflowers to look at. This hike involves a short (1.6 mile ) care shuttle. Meet at 8: 30 a.m. at the dirt parking lot at the north east corner of Las Virgenes Road and Mulholland Hwy. Directions from PCH, traveling W: Turn right on Malibu Canyon Road which changes to Las Virgenes Road at Piuma Road. Continue on Las Virgenes to the next stoplight, which is Mulholland. Turn Right and then make an immediate left into the dirt parking area. Directions from the 101: Take the Las Virgenes exit south (toward the ocean) to Mulholland Hwy. Make a left turn onto Mulholland and then and immediate left into the dirt parking area. Or meet at the ride share spot on Los Liones Drive (off of Sunset Blvd), first parking lot on the right, at 7:30 a.m.

Additional Directions: In going on a Sierra Club outing you are potentially on a trip with individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated. It is your choice to attend the outing knowing this information. The leader can not and should not reveal the status of participants vaccination or reject a participant based on their vaccination status. You are welcome to wear a mask if that makes you comfortable. If someone is experiencing any possible COVID symptoms or is sick, they should not attend the outing. The participant is responsible for contacting the leader to report a positive COVID test. Leaders will provide participants with their contact information. Leader will report as an Incident Report to the Sierra Club.Participants should be able to maintain a pace of about 2.0 MPH.

Cancellation Policy: Check online Sierra Club Schedule of Activities and your emails before leaving the morning of. Rain, excessive heat, or red flag alert cancels. The hike will be cancelled for local temperatures of 85 degrees F or higher.
