Join this in-person training to learn how to lead meaningful and inclusive outdoor trips for folks in our community and follow Sierra Club Outings policies. Possible trips you could lead include hikes, camping/backpacking trips, bike rides, caving outings, and other adventures that you have experience in. .
Snacks and a free lunch will be provided!
This training is best done in-person, but we can provide a virtual option if needed. Please reach out if you would like to attend but need a hybrid option.What to expect10:00 am - 10:30 am │ Welcome, Intros, & Housekeeping
10:30 - 11:20 am │ Modules 1 and 2: Commitments to Equity, History and Structure of Sierra Club & our Outings. Info about Idaho Sierra Club's Outings programs: General Outings and OUTdoors Idaho (LGBTQ+ OUTings).
11:20 - 11:30 am │ Break
11:30 am - 12:20pm │ Modules 3, 4, and 5: Planning Outings, Participant Evaluation, Conservation and Connections.
12:30 - 1:00 pm │ Lunch break
1:00 - 2:25 pm │ Modules 6 & 7, and 8: Conducting an Outing (Checklist for Success), Ethical Leadership and Decision Making, Risk Management.
2:25 - 2:30 pm │ Break
