Explore the Churchill Valley Greenway
Brighten your day with a two-hour exploratory visit to the Churchill Valley Greenway! This land was preserved through a visionary collaborative effort between local citizens and the Allegheny Land Trust. The result of that collaborative effort is that a former golf course has been transformed into a beautiful meadow that has now become home to many native plants and animals. The Churchill Valley Greenway, which was acquired by the Allegheny Land Trust in 2021, covers 151 acres and has five miles of trails. We will walk along some of these trails as we observe the land slowly returning to its natural state.

The Churchill Valley Greenway, which was acquired by the Allegheny Land Trust in 2021, covers 151 acres and has five miles of trails. We will walk along some of these trails as we observe the land slowly returning to its natural state.
This three-mile hike is suitable for people of various ages, couples, singles, and parents with children eight years and older. No special skills, physical conditioning, or equipment are required. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring water, snacks, a hat, and sunscreen. Please do not wear open-toed shoes like sandals, flip-flops, or crocs. Although local residents often walk their dogs on the Churchill Valley Greenway, for this particular hike, please leave your dogs at home.
We will meet at the visitor kiosk at 800 Beulah Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Parking is available on either side of the road. If you park in the lot across the road from the visitor kiosk, you can cross the road safely on a nearby pedestrian bridge. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh Regional Transit buses do not currently travel along Beulah Road. There are no public restrooms at the Churchill Valley Greenway, so plan accordingly!
