Sierra Club  will be teaming with several partners including the Audubon in Riverlands, Open Space STL, The Army Corps of Engineers, and the Mississippi River Water Trail Association to do a clean up at Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary on the morning of April 11th.  Our team, led by Christine Favilla, is assigned to Lincoln Shields Access. Come out and give us a hand!  We will start by meeting at the Audubon in Riverlands (301 Riverlands Way, West Alton, MO 63386) at 8:15.  That is when the volunteer check in will start.  After a safety orientation there will be distribution of any gear needed including gloves, trash bags, etc.
WHAT TO WEAR:
  • Dress for the weather
  • Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and wet
  • Sturdy closed-toe shoes or waterproof boots
  • Hat & sunscreen
WHAT TO BRING:
  • A filled water bottle - we recommend reusable!
  • snacks
  • Insect repellant, if preferred
  • Sturdy gloves, if you prefer your own. We can also provide gloves for you.
  • A trash grabber if you have one
After the clean up, join us at The Audubon Center at Riverlands for our Watershed Picnic and Festival at 11:00.  The festival will be hosted by Open Space STLThe Audubon Center at Riverlands and will feature free food, drinks, and activities for the whole family.  The festival will last until 12:30.

We'll also have a trash contest for all clean up participants. Did you find the biggest trash? The weirdest trash? The most bottles of Fireball? Bring them to the picnic for bragging rights... and prizes!  PLEASE pre-register on this page.  Questions, contact Craig Heaton at 618-345-4822.
