CANCELLED: CANCELLED: Smedley Park/Crum Creek hike and Watershed Tenders talk
We'll be joined by 2 Master Watershed Stewards from the Penn State Extension Office, also located at Smedley Park! During our outing we'll meet the Stewards at two conservation projects: A Live Stake Nursery for stream bank stabilization, and a vernal pool for spawning amphibians in the Park. The two miles of trails are a bit more rugged than last year's , so poles and sturdy hiking shoes are recommended. The surfaces are dirt or wood chips, with a few short, steep portions and roots. Smedley Park straddles a winding portion of Crum Creek, in Springfield, DelCo, PA. The Master Stewards will describe how the land has been affected by invasives and tree-damaging diseases and insects.
