Starting from the Coastal Peak Park, a short walk takes us to the Pacific Ridge Trailhead. We follow the wide, flat Pacific Ridge Trail with views of the mountains and ocean into the upper portion of Crystal Cove State Park. We turn on to “Ticketron” trail and walk down into Deer Canyon. As the path narrows you may see red-tailed hawks soaring above coastal scrub oaks and wildflowers. At the Deer Canyon Campground are some picnic benches under shade trees at the half-way point where we can rest and have a snack before making the steep climb up to the trailhead.

Total distance is about 4 miles with a bit over 500 feet of elevation gain and loss.

Bring: Water, sunscreen, hat, hiking boots and snack. Poles are recommended.
