Upcycled art is the repurposing materials that would otherwise enter our landfills into a new form, either for decoration, or for a new, reinvisoned use.
This workshop, we are using old cotton shirts and turning them into dog toys, which then will either be taken by participants, or donated to a local animal shelter. We will be lead by local artist, Leona McAndrews, a 4th generation Native Floridian Lifelong crafter!
After a 37 year career with Broward County, including three (3) years with Recycling & Contract Administration Division working on recycling and special projects, Leona knows just how important the impact of solid waste has on our landscapes. Outaide of her career, she was also the former Director of the Trash 2 Treasure Creative Reuse Center in Broward County.
Please bring t-shirts (the bigger, the better) and scissors to the workshop. We will be hosting the event at Plantation Heritage Park at Shelter #4: 1100 S Fig Tree Ln, Plantation, FL 33317 from 12pm to 2pm.
