"The
Village Institute for Sustainable Technologies and Agriculture, known as VISTA Gardens, is thriving as the region's first garden park. The organization's mission to serve as a sustainable model for organic gardening, native landscaping, and environmental leadership has been nothing short of markable. Discovered as an abandoned water treatment facility in 2008 by Bill West, the Gardens grew from six garden plots and 10 active members to over 70 raised cedar garden plots and more than 125 active members, all of whom dedicate their time assuring the longevity and beauty of the area. Home to countless resources, including herb, flower, and gardens, a 180-foot nature trail, a 2,000-gallon freshwater pond, and Florida fruit trees, VISTA is the recipient of a grant award from the Viva Florida Landscape Demonstration Grant Program. As it dedicates its new pavilion in honor of the garden's founders, VISTA Gardens is a true local paradise."

We will meet in the parking lot as a group. Please arrive 15 minutes before 9AM. I will have a Sierra Club sign. A VISTA member should be able to assist us about the garden. Come see and talk to members about the garden, walk the trail, see the ponds and the solar powered water tank, native plants and service projects.

I expect this event to last at least an hour. You can enjoy walking the grounds after the event.
