Mt. Woodson and Potato Chip Rock via Hwy 67
Come join us on this iconic San Diego hike to Potato Chip Rock at the summit of Mt. Woodson. We will meet at the brand new parking lot at Mt. Woodson Gateway County Preserve, located at 16286 Highway 67, Ramona, CA. 92065. From the parking lot, we will hike up the service road. This is a paved but steep 1.7 mile workout with 1,400' of elevation gain and beautiful views. Once we reach the top, we'll stop for a break and take photos for anyone willing to climb up on the chip. Then we'll hike the ridge west off the summit on the Old Fry/Koegel Trail and descend 3.6 miles back to the parking lot. |There is a $5 fee for parking unless you have an annual pass which you can get from SD Co. Parks and Rec. |To beat the heat we will start early. Please be sure to bring the 10 essentials https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/ten-essentials.html Space is limited.
