The Sierra Club is launching Sierra Sessions, a streamed fundraising concert series that will spotlight singer/songwriters. These events will be streamed on YouTube and hosted by Sierra Club Chapter viewing parties across the country. Artists will perform a 2-3 song set, sharing the inspiration and stories behind their songs and their reflections on nature.
The inaugural Sierra Sessions streamed concert will take place on April 22, 2026.
The concert seeks to do more than entertain. It aims to raise awareness and funds for the Sierra Club’s critical work to protect wild places, fight the climate and extinction crises, and promote environmental justice. It also aims to inspire a new generation of environmentally themed songwriting—songs that, like Joni Mitchell’s “Big Yellow Taxi,” John Anderson’s “Seminole Wind,” or Stevie Wonder’s “Secret Life of Plants,” can awaken hearts and spark change. By celebrating the creative spirit of Los Angeles’s songwriting community, Sierra Sessions highlights the vital role music can play in shifting cultural narratives and mobilizing movements. Just as artists helped power the civil rights, anti-war, and women’s movements of the 1960s and '70s, this concert is part of a new cultural moment—one that puts climate action and justice at the center.
Together, we can turn music into movement - and joy into justice.
