North Carolina Chapter Camporee WeekendDates: Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31We cordially invite you to join us for a state‑wide Camporee Weekend! This event brings volunteers and outings enthusiasts together for a shared outdoor experience focused on community, connection, and time in nature.
Whether you’re a longtime member or new to the Sierra Club, this weekend offers an opportunity to camp, meet fellow volunteers from across the state, and enjoy being outdoors together.Who: You!What: State‑Wide Camporee WeekendWhen: Friday, May 29 @ 6:00 PM – Sunday, May 31 @ 10 AMWhere: Badin Lake Campground, Group Campsite C, located within the Badin Lake Recreation Area near Troy, North Carolina: Badin Lake Campground, National Forests in North Carolina - Recreation.govFrom Troy, North Carolina, take State Highway 109 north for approximately 10 miles. Turn left onto Mullinix Road (County Highway 1154), and travel approximately 1.5 miles to a stop sign and "T" intersection. Turn right, and go approximately 2 miles to another stop sign and "T" intersection. Turn right, then make a quick left and travel about 1 mile to the campground.What to Bring: The campsite accommodates tents only. A light dinner will be served Friday evening, breakfast and dinner will be provided Saturday, and a light breakfast will be served Sunday morning prior to participants departing. Participants should be prepared to provide their own lunch Saturday, May 30. In addition, participants are encouraged to provide their own beverages and snacks throughout the weekend. The campground provides restroom facilities and potable water. If your not able to overnight you're still welcome to participate; please contact Gerry Kingsley for additional information.If you would like to participate in organized outings, please be prepared to provide your own equipment. All outings are optional, focusing on day hikes, kayaking, and gravel biking throughout the Uwharrie National Forest. Outing information will be published soon.
Children are welcome if over the age of twelve years and must be accompanied by an adult. Due to the nature of this event (activities, number of participants, etc.) we ask that participants please not bring pets--exceptions made for registered service animals. As stated by campground policy alcohol and firearms are not permitted. Your consideration is appreciated to ensure a successful state-wide event.Planned Agenda:Friday, May 29

Signup Instructions: Club members should signup not later than Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Each participant must register individually.
Recommended Items: Appropriate camping and outing equipment. If you wish to join a paddle or gravel-biking activity, you must provide your own kayak/bicycle.
Signup Restrictions: Participation is capped at 35 participants.
