O: Mt. Wilson (5710') from RedBox
O: Mt. Wilson (5710') from the Red Box picnic area. Join us on this beautiful hike along the historic Gabrielino Trail to Valley Forge trail camp just across the West Fork of the San Gabriel river. We then climb up the Kenyon DeVore trail on the shaded north side of Mt. Wilson and make our way over to Skyline Park. The Cosmic Cafe will be open and their menu can be found here, https://www.mtwilson.edu/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Cosmic-Cafe-Menu-2026.pdf, they are now managed by Little Flower Cafe of Pasadena. Bring cash or card to purchase any food or drink items. After enjoying lunch at the Cosmic Cafe and taking in the views of the LA basin we will return via the Kenyon DeVore trail back to the Red Box picnic area. Total mileage for the day will be 14.25 miles Round Trip with 3,700 feet of elevation gain. Strenuous but led at a study pace. This is a Front country hike.
