Two trends are rising in Connecticut with respect to lawn maintenance. First, a realization that native plants can co-exist with traditional grasses, promoting ecological balance. Second, that using gasoline-powered lawn equipment produces high level of air pollution and noise., and is increasingly less cost-effective than alternatives, especially electric lawn equipment.
In this presentation at the Old Saybrook Acton Library we will hear from leader of the Quiet Lawn organization the fundamental ecological and financial advantages that electric equipment has over gasoline tools. Also we will hear from a professional landscape firm that has made the transition from gas to electric equipment. Finally, a discussion on how several Connecticut towns have enacted some common-sense boundaries on the use of gasoline equipment.
The special guests for this presentation are affiliated with the Connecticut River Towns Quiet Lawns organization. Also participating is Madison Earth Care, providing landscape services and native plantings (including Ecoregion 59 Ecotypes) to Shoreline towns.
