Hiking Big Gulch
Hike a scenic trail that is a hidden gem in Mukilteo. The Big Gulch trail takes you on a peaceful journey through a ravine, where you can escape the city and enjoy great views and the sounds of nature. The area has a history of logging in the early 1900s, and remnants of old logging roads can still be seen. As you walk, you'll be surrounded by towering trees like Douglas fir and western red cedar.
***The trail is dirt with exposed roots in places, some are gravel and a few places have stairs. It can be a bit muddy in spots, so be sure to wear sturdy shoes, particularly after a rain.
Summary: 2.6 miles round trip with 300 ft of gain; max elevation of 460 ft at Library. Not ADA accessible. Dogs allowed on leash. Good for kids. Wildflowers/Meadows. Wildlife.
From the library, the trail goes north and then west toward the water. We walk along the trail and it turns west and down. At the end of the trail is an access paved road to the Mukilteo Sewer
building. We can rest and gather at the road or turn around and start back up. On the way back up the trail, there are convenient benches for rest stops
