Join us for a slow, curiosity-driven morning walk at Yamato Scrub Natural Area as we explore the subtle beauty of Florida’s scrub and flatwoods habitats.

This will be a leisurely ~2-mile walk along the paved accessible trail and portions of the sandy Skyblue Lupine Trail. We’ll move at an unhurried pace, pausing often to notice what’s present — from plant adaptations and seasonal blooms to animal signs and birds moving through the landscape.

As we transition between habitats, we’ll explore how the environment shifts — and what those changes reveal about life in Florida’s sandy ecosystems. You may encounter species such as gopher tortoises, songbirds, butterflies, and other wildlife that call this unique habitat home.

This outing is designed to be exploratory rather than lecture-based — questions, shared observations, and curiosity are all welcome.
