O: Hahamongna Bird Walk

Spring is here, and the foothills are alive with the sights and sounds of local and migratory birds. Enjoy a beautiful spring evening walking and bird watching in Hahamongna Park. Hahamonga is a local hotspot for all kinds of resident birds and migratory birds. It is common to see Acorn Woodpeckers, Red Tailed Hawks, Phainopeplas, Blue Grey Gnatcatchers, Hooded Orioles, Western and Cassin's Kingbirds, Allen's and Anna's Hummingbirds, Yellow Rumped Warblers, and Yellow Warblers. However, due to the unusually warm recent weather, I do not know what we will see this time. It will be interesting to see what is there. We will walk at a leisurely pace, and stop to listen and see birds along the way. Be prepared for pauses as we listen and watch birds. 2 miles round trip with minimal elevation gain. There will be a few small hill climbs, but other than that, it's mostly flat. Because it is a dry arroyo, it is very dusty. Please wear comfortable lug soled shoes that you dont mind getting dirty. We will start at the parking area listed in the Google Pin, and head north towards JPL. Then we will head down to Arroyo Seco where we will travel south to the oak forest and picnic area. If time permits, we will head east and check out the Devils Gate Dam from the top. From there we will get onto the road and walk back to the parking area where we started. Also, very well behaved dogs that are able to stand still and remain quiet are welcome to join us.
