Sierra Club General Meeting – Creek Land Conservation’s Executive Director Don Chartrand
Join the Sierra Club Santa Lucia Chapter for an engaging evening exploring the future of steelhead in San Luis Obispo County. Learn about the ecological importance of steelhead, the benefits of restoring their habitat, and innovative approaches that help people and fish coexist while supporting ranchers and other land managers in adapting to floods, drought, and wildfire.Drawing on years of collaborative planning, scientific research, and lessons inspired by both beavers and Indigenous stewardship practices, Creek Lands Conservation is developing solutions that strengthen watershed health and create lasting benefits for wildlife, working landscapes, and local communities.📅 Wednesday, July 15, 2026

Guest Speaker: Don Chartrand
Don Chartrand is the Executive Director of Creek Land Conservation.
Don leads teams to restore and protect Central Coast natural resources, and to prepare young people to become tomorrow's eco-stewards. Flagship projects include a regional Land & Water Resilience initiative to help cities, farmers and ranchers adapt to climate and conservation challenges; efforts to save the endangered white and black abalone; multiple projects linking social justice and environmental literacy to Tribal conservation leadership. Don co-founded Harmony Coast Aquaculture Institute to jumpstart restoration aquaculture by acquiring and repurposing the former Abalone Farm in Cayucos.This event is free and open to the public. Please bring a dish or beverage to share during the potluck social hour. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing an evening of learning, community, and conversation about protecting and restoring our local watersheds.
